Our Story

From Goats to Software

We’re Wolf and Carol, and we live on a small farm in the Hunter Valley, NSW. Like many small farmers, we juggle livestock, paddocks, equipment, fencing, and everything else that keeps a place running.

When our goat herd grew past 60, we needed a better way to keep track of everything — births, treatments, sales, paddock rotations. We tried a few livestock management systems, but none of them fit. They were either too expensive, too complicated, or designed for big commercial operations.

So we built our own.

It helps that Wolf actually has a degree in computing (BS Computing majoring in Systems Analysis) and has been a rural fencing contractor for the last 10 years or so.

A Simple Start

At first, it was just for us. But when Carol attended a tagging (eID) workshop with LLS, she got chatting with other farmers who said, “That sounds exactly like what we need.”

That was the lightbulb moment. If we needed it, other small farmers did too.

More Than Livestock

Around the same time, I kept catching myself wondering:

  • When did I last change the tractor oil?

  • Did I replace the filter, or just top it up?

  • How many hours has the old ute done since its last service?

I’d often forget — and I knew other farmers did too. So we built the Farm Equipment Logbook, a simple way to keep track of services, hours, and repairs across all your gear.

Wolf Rural Today

Now, under the name Wolf Rural Tools, we’re sharing these tools with other small farmers:

  • 🐑 Livestock Management System — simple herd & flock records without the fuss.

  • 🚜 Farm Equipment Logbook — service records and reminders for all your machinery.

We keep our tools affordable, easy to use, and practical — because we use them ourselves, every day.

Where We’re Heading 🚀

We’re just getting started. Coming soon are features like offline access, photo uploads, Excel exports, and email reminders — always shaped by what farmers like you actually need.

Because at the end of the day, we’re not a software company trying to sell to farmers.
We’re farmers building tools for farmers.
